Cloud and High Performance Computing
Virtualisation Platform
The Masaryk University Institute of Computer Science offers its users and user groups a modern Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) service through a virtualisation platform. This service enables efficient use of computing resources in the form of virtual servers that provide users with high flexibility, scalability and reliability.
Modernization of Virtualisation Infrastructure
Currently, the Institute of Computer Science is implementing a major upgrade of its virtualisation infrastructure. There is a gradual transition from the existing VMware vSphere technology to the new Proxmox VE environment, which brings a number of benefits including open access, broader management options and better integration into the university environment. Individual user groups whose virtual servers are now hosted on VMware vSphere technology, are being contacted on a phased basis. After individually specifying their needs and requirements, their systems are then migrated to the Proxmox VE platform in a coordinated manner to minimize operational impact and ensure a smooth process.

Cloud and Complex Computing
Masaryk University’s computing infrastructure is secured primarily by the CERIT-SC centre (CERIT Scientific Cloud), which maintains more than 4800 cores and 4 PB of storage.
CERIT-SC is a part of the National Grid Infrastructure (NGI) MetaCentrum, an activity of the CESNET association.
Currently, the original cloud services are migrating to a single platform. You can find the new environment under the MetaCloud/OpenStack link.
